what going on?
The story occurs in a future Earth, now split into ten businesses. A tiny percentage of the population, known as”deviants”, also have developed super powers, becoming the subject of hatred and fear with everyday humans. For hot entertainment, there is an annual competition in which each of the ten industries catch and nominate their high fighting deviant. They are subsequently taken to a central spot and forced to combat each other to the passing, in a globally-televised contest run by Dominion Harvey (Roberts), that will be watched by only about everybody . So, basically: The Hunger Games crossed with X Men . On a very, very much smaller budget.
The principal heroine is Trikalypse (Gerhardy), one of those ten combatants taking part in this year’s model. However, it is refreshingly female-oriented, with both of the finalists being women, in addition to that the super-boss the winner then needs to carry on. Nevertheless, the film then ends — literally moving to the end-credits — just as that fight starts. Fortunately, I didn’t see this until after the movie was also available, otherwise I’d have been very annoyed. It’s the form of cliff-hanger you expect from a totally free e book on Amazon, not a real feature film.
Despite the lack of creativity, it’s a decent idea and I’d have forgiven this, even if the fights had actually been better than fair. As an alternative, in addition to the light problem, they’re not very well-choreographed, though do have intermittent minutes which are rather powerful. I was impressed by Cruz as awful bitch Dekay, that had the presence, the appearance and also the apparent abilities, to maintain me at least somewhat interested. But this is small consolation for some thing which, far too frequently, grabbed the boundary in to being genuinely unwatchable. I am nearly eagerly excited about the sequel, but it’s there…
